The anime does seem to heavily imply a deep emotional connection between Crona and Maka. Though she reacts heavily towards any of her friends being put in danger, the reaction to Crona's "death" is one of the most extreme.
Not to mention Crona's last line in the series seems to imply a deeper understanding of her than just that of friendship. Though, that is certainly me reading into it.
Even in the manga, the relationship between Crona and Maka is rather...complicated. She's willing to do a lot for him, and wants to try and save him/her (not touching that arguement. Pick a gender and deal with it.) even though he's killed multiple death-scythes and even eater the Kishin's soul. I think it's fairly evident that he is quite obviously in love with her.
Though this is just my opinion as a shipper of the two. I always found it much more...well feasible than the Soul Maka ship. They just seem like the best friends, not lovers.
I agree with you completely. Though, I haven't read the manga yet, so I can't have any kind of realistic input on that.
I think it's really obvious in the anime though. The clip where Crona caught Maka staring at him really solidified it for me c: Of course, along with the way she reacted to Crona "dying." and also the fact that the first thing that Crona said after waking up after that was that he needed to see Maka.
I honestly can't wrap my mind around the Maka Soul ship at all. Their relationship seems very brother-sister to me.
The manga is only available in English for the first dozen volumes if I recall correctly. It's a lot like the manga up until the Arachne arc as far as I've seen. After that point, it gets new. Though that would be the last volume I've purchased. XD
Indeed. It's a solid pairing and I feel like there's a lot of potential. The anime isn't the greatest in some aspects but they do get across a lot of character and the stuff between Maka and Crona is some of the most evident. Even if Crona "Doesn't know how to deal with it" I feel like that pairing may come into play later. It'd be such a sweet pairing. He could use a happy ending. xD After his bloody tragic life.
That's precisely as I feel. I really get the best friend vibe, not romantic attachment vibe. She may get a little violent when Blair messes with him, but I find that to be more of a "Stop being a perv" thing than a jealousy thing. It's a viable pairing for sure, but I really don't see it.
That's disappointing that the entire thing isn't translated. Though I'll probably end up buying the volumes up to that point anyway.
I agree that they would be a sweet pairing, their relationship is so cute. Crona could definitely use a happy ending. If any character deserves it it's him.
She does get violent toward Blair, and I agree that it probably has to do with being uncomfortable with Blair's perverted behavior, but I think part of it might be jealousy too, though not romantic jealousy. Blair did try to STEAL her weapon the first time they met her,to break up their partnership,I think anyone would be a little peeved at the person who tried to do that. Not all jealousy stems from romance. c:
Well let me rephrase that. It isn't OFFICIALLY translated yet. There are scanlations online of it already, but these are fan done so I can't confirm the validity of the translating. It releases fairly frequently so the series is rapidly catching up to the Japanese point. Though that is still an impossibility as the Japanese series will end far before the English catches up.
Indeed. It's a rather pleasing pairing, though they're only I believe fourteen? At any rate, yes, it's certainly deserved. I'll give you fair warning though. In the manga, it's EXTREMELY evident that he feels quite strongly for Maka after the point where the anime and manga differ. If there is a happy ending for Crona, he'll be going through Hell to get it if I remember correctly.
I'm aware not all jealousy stems from romantic feelings, however I mention that because that is one of the more prominent reasons people ship Soul and Maka. I honestly hold that Maka has no real problem with Blair, simply her rather uncouth behavior is not generally received well. There are numerous scenes in the anime where the two get along quite well as well as in the manga, Blair is shown in a quite positive light, though largely for her comedic relief role.
I think that anyone who would suggest that Crona and Maka aren't in love with each other didn't watch the show properly. >u< ^THIS. ;v; Throughout the whole thing, I was waiting expectantly for Crona to kiss her. I got upset when it didn't happen. xD
